Coffee afternoon and Sparkle chat at Silverpoint Court Residential Care Home

Coffee and chat

We had a lot of fun with our coffee afternoon this week at Silverpoint Court Residential Care Home, with lots of debates from the Daily Sparkle.

We talked about Marilyn Monroe’s life and also had a lengthy discussion about the Queen. Our residents told us all about the coronation street parties they had and how some of them had watched the ceremony on television for the first time, as TVs were new then.

Everyone enjoyed the article about sherry trifle; how it was made and what was put in it. Lots of chat about who liked trifle and who didn’t!

To round off the afternoon we did the Sparkle quizzes, which we always enjoy and filled in the missing words to the song ‘When you’re smiling‘ by Shirley Bassey, which we then played for everyone to sing along to.

Pampering

This week, Vera loved having her nails done too. A lovely therapeutic session and she very much enjoyed having a good chat whilst her nails we being pampered!

Quizzes

On Wednesday 1 June we ran two quizzes and everyone did really well – we definitely have some good quizzers amongst our residents.

Our overall winner (who scored an impressive 20 out of 20 on both quizzes!) was Jean. Well done Jean on your perfect score card, we hope you enjoyed your medal.
