Coffee morning with bingo and films at Silverpoint Court Residential Care Home

Coffee morning

We put on some Beatles music during our coffee morning at Silverpoint Court Residential Care Home this week, as there was a piece in the current issue of the Weekly Sparkle about Penny Lane.

We enjoyed lots of discussions with our residents on many of the news items in the Sparkle; we talked about David Suchet and him being in Poirot and how many of the residents have seen it. We talked about Audrey Hepburn and how it is her birthday this week and all the wonderful films she has been in. We also remembered Sid James and all the Carry On films he was in.

Reminiscing about the past, we also chatted about toy spinners and how you used to get them out of cereal boxes!

As part of the morning, we had a dressmaking quiz, a quiz about ‘things that fly’ and a song quiz. At the end we put on ABBA’s ‘Dancing Queen‘ and got everyone dancing. What’s not to love?!

Bingo and films

Our ladies and gents enjoyed some good games of bingo in the week – always lots of fun, with plenty of winners!

After the games, we served tea and put on some films; our resident chose a John Wayne film called ‘Sagebrush Trail‘ and then enjoyed the music and costumes in ‘Moulin Rouge‘. A lovely afternoon of socialising and relaxing in good company.

Keeping active

Today we’ve had fun shaking pom-poms to music and then dancing, during our Move It or Lose It session. Our residents’ range of movements is really amazing and we’re so impressed by them all. Great to see such enthusiasm!
