From cake making to garden music at Silverpoint Court Residential Court

Cake making

On Tuesday 12 July we had fun making cupcakes with our residents at Silverpoint Court Residential Court. They were packed with chocolate drops and vanilla flavour and everyone loved mixing the ingredients. We all enjoyed tasting them too!

Growing cress

Our residents have been diligently watering our cress seed plants which are coming along really well and we can’t wait for them to grow so we can have cress on our salads when they are ready.

A musical afternoon

On Thursday 14 July we hosted a musical afternoon when we talked about musical theatre and discussed the history of the theatre. We gave out booklets which had themed puzzles and quizzes to do and also put on a video of Les Miserables for everyone to enjoy, followed by the musical Joseph.

We made sure everyone kept cool, with drinks from our trolley – apple or orange juice mixed with lemonade went down a treat!

What’s in the bag

On Friday, we organised a bag which was full of surprises and asked our residents to put their hands in and pick something out to see what it was. We had some surprised faces when people picked out the lobster and crab! Everyone had fun playing the game.

Flowers, quizzes, music and bowls

Beryl chose to stay in her room one day, so we decided to do some flower arranging with her, which is always so good for lifting the spirits. She kindly arranged a vase for the hallway and we organised an arrangement for her room too, which put a big smile on her face!

We’ve also enjoyed two ‘Who wants to be a millionaire’ quizzes which were very popular and a great way to test our general knowledge. We were very good at guessing the correct answers!

And we were outside for some singing and music in our garden on Saturday 16 July, with everyone joining in an enjoying themselves.

Not forgetting our games of bowls too!

Grease is the word…

On Monday 18 July we spent a fun morning talking about the stage production and film ‘Grease’, which is such a classic!

We put on the soundtrack from Grease and got the residents sing to some of the songs – ‘Summer Nights’, ‘Greased Lightnin’, ‘You’re the one that I want’. Such great fun!

Making bird feeders

We have such a lovely garden here at Silverpoint Court that we thought we’d make some bird feeders this week, using peanut butter and mixed seeds. It was a messy activity but we certainly had fun!

It will be nice to watch the birds when they visit our garden.
