We’ve had such a wonderful week celebrating the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee here at Silverpoint Court Residential Care Home.
Thursday 2 June
We had a lot of fun with everyone having their photos taken with the Queen! We also gave out our special Jubilee keepsake books to all of our residents, which detailed a lot of interesting facts about the Queen.
We read some of the facts out to our ladies and gents and showed everyone pictures of all the presidents that the Queen has met over her time on the throne.
Friday 3 June
On Friday we were delighted to have entertainment duo Sandy and John at our Home in the afternoon to sing for us. They had fantastic voices and those who were able enjoyed getting up and dancing; we even managed to get a few of our residents who are in wheelchairs on to the dance floor to join in. We all had such a lovely time together.
Saturday 4 June
Over the weekend, we enjoyed posing as members of the royal family, with some fun masks. Everyone found it very amusing, as we had the Queen, William, Harry, Kate and Meghan amongst us!
And our royal quiz was a big hit too! Many of our residents got the answers correct and then enjoyed a fun-filled afternoon with lots of tea and scones. Perfect!
Sunday 5 June
On Sunday, our residents reminisced about what they did during the Queen’s coronation and everyone enjoyed chatting and socialising.
To finish off, we held a few games of bowls, with some lucky winners!
This week we’ve enjoyed a game with the balloons left over from Jubilee, batting them to each other and seeing who could keep them in the air the longest, which was great fun and great exercise too!
We then enjoyed making some cards and played a game of basketball, followed by our residents choice of film – The Simpsons Movie!
