Arts, crafts and puzzles
On Monday 1 August, our residents here Silverpoint Court Residential Care Home finished off the personalised place cards which that started last Friday.
Everyone did exceptionally well and they were amazed at their finished cards! We also had some fun with puzzles and quizzes, and John’s enjoyed topping up the bird seed.
Out on the town
Residents Marjorie, Vera and Belynda enjoyed a trip into town Tuesday 2 August to have tea and cake; they thanked our Recreation and Well-Being Team for a lovely afternoon. It was a lovely sunny day and people came up to chat – the hustle and bustle was amazing and the atmosphere was so positive.
Coffee morning and Daily Sparkle
We had a really great coffee morning today (Wednesday 3 August) with a full house! Everyone talked about all the articles and we also went off subject on some of them. We discussed ‘Family Favourite’ which was a radio show that people listened to after the war; during the war it was called ‘Forces Favourite’.
We also chatted about Nancy Wake who was a French Resistance fighter from New Zealand – a very clever lady and she lived to tell her story. We also voiced our opinions on National Service and how it affected the young men who entered into it.
War-related chit-chat was a hot topic for this morning as some of our residents love to reminisce about the past and what post-war life was like.
