Creative pastimes and drinks tasting at Silverpoint Court Residential Care Home

Gardening

Four of our lovely residents at Silverpoint Court Residential Care Home were very enthusiastic to join Kerri from our team in gardening and watering our plants.

While planting the plants, they spoke about their own gardens from the past. Everyone helped to water the garden and ensure that the newly planted plants had lots to drink, before assisting in tidying up and packing the garden tools away.

Everyone commented how much they had enjoyed gardening – such good exercise too!

Flower arranging

On Tuesday 27 June we enjoyed some flower arranging, when Vera and Doris were very enthusiastic to join in. They made some lovely arrangements; Doris was with her daughter in our lounge and Vera was in her bedroom. Vera has put her vase in her bedroom beside her bed – a beautiful display.

Drinks tasting

In the week we also arranged a drinks tasting session with nine of our residents. We had fruit cocktails to try – peach and passionfruit, lemon and lime, morello cherry, and Mexican lime and elderflower – and everybody had fun sampling the different flavours.

Morello cherry was the clear favourite, followed by the lemon and lime. The least favourite drink was fruit cocktail. This activity was a brilliant thirst quencher and great for hydration during such a warm spell!

Mad Hatter crafts

We’ve also been getting creative this week, making backwards clocks for our Mad Hatter’s Tea Party on Friday which we’re all looking forward to.

We enjoy making decorations and displays together for our events – there was a lot of mess and lots laughter. A very enjoyable day was had by all.
