Coffee and chat at Silverpoint Court Residential Care Home

Our Weekly Sparkle themed coffee morning was a great success again this week here at Silverpoint Court Residential Care Home.

We talked about ATM machines and how money transactions have changed over the years – from going into a bank to take out money, to getting money from a hole in the wall!

The film ‘Gone with the wind‘ was also a discussion point and how many of our residents either liked the film or would like to see it. We also remembered how children used to play outside and how different it is today.

Other areas of our debate included how in 1950s schools, girls took ‘domestic science‘ and boys studied ‘woodwork‘.

During the morning, we held a number of quizzes – one featuring the drinks cabinet, a general knowledge quiz and a song quiz featuring ‘By the light of the silvery moon‘ where we had to fill in the missing words.

Everyone had a very enjoyable morning together!

Bingo, Paddington and a puzzle!

We have also enjoyed some brilliant games of bingo and had quite a few of our residents joining in which was great to see – four games in total.

Afterwards, our ladies and gents chose the film ‘Paddington‘ to watch and while everyone was engaged with the film, three of our ladies decided they wanted to do a jigsaw puzzle together, which they really enjoyed.
